BLACK CHESTED BUZZARD EAGLE.
Scientific Name : Geranoaetus Melanoleucus.
Distribution : South America.
Habitat : Mountainous or hilly terrain.
Food : Mammals such as rabbits. Also some birds, snakes, carrion.
Wingspan : 160 - 180cm.

Black Chested Buzzard Eagle
Black Chested Buzzard Eagle Distribution Map The Black Chested Buzzard Eagle is the only member of the genus Geranoaetus and is allied to the Buteo hawks. It is also known as the Black Buzzard-Eagle, Grey Buzzard-Eagle and the Chilean Blue Eagle. The adult has a white underside, sometimes with fine blackish stripes. It's upperparts are dark grey with a blackish, brownish or bluish hue. With long broad wings it spends a lot of time soaring high on thermals looking for prey. It requires a large territory and is most common between 1,500m and 4,600m above sea-level. It nests in high trees or on rocky cliffs with a clutch of 1 -3 eggs that are incubated for about a month.
