BIRDS of PREY
Birds of Prey (also known as Raptors) can be broadly defined as any bird that hunts animals for food.
They vary greatly in size and form. Although some raptors like vultures specialise in eating carrion (dead animals),
most have evolved highly specialised adaptations for hunting live prey. The three most important of these are
powerful feet with sharp talons, sharp hooked beaks and powerful, forward facing eyes.
