STRIATED CARACARA.
Also known as Forster's Caracara and locally as 'Johnny Rook.'
Family : Falconidae.
Scientific Name : Phalcoboenus Australis.
Distribution : Falkland Islands, Southern tip of South America.
Habitat : Rocky Coasts.
Food : Mainly opportunist scavenger. Carrion. Also immobile, slowing-moving or injured prey.
Wingspan : 115 - 125cm.
CRESTED CARACARA.
Family : Falconidae.
Scientific Name : Polyborus Plancus.
Distribution : Central and South America.
Habitat : Wide ranging, typically open and semi-open country.
Food : Mainly opportunist scavenger. Carrion. Also immobile, slowing-moving or injured prey.
Wingspan : 105 - 135cm.
RAVEN.
Family : Corvidae (Crows).
Scientific Name : Corvus Corax.
Distribution : North America, Asia, Europe, North Africa.
Habitat : Varied but tend to prefer wooded areas, especially along coast and mountains.
Food : Omnivorous, meaning they will eat all food types. This would include insects, seeds, berries, carrion, eggs, young birds, occasionally small mammals.
Wingspan : 120 - 150cm.
KOOKABURRA.
The Kookaburra is the largest member of the Kingfisher family but rarely eats fish.
Family : Alcedinidae.
Scientific Name : Dacelo Novaeguineae. Distribution : Australia and Tasmania.
Habitat : Woodlands and savannah.
Food : Small mammals, snakes, lizards.
Wingspan : 65cm.
RED LEGGED SERIEMA.
Family : Cariamidae.
Scientific Name : Cariama Cristata.
Distribution : South America.
Habitat : Grasslands, open scrub.
Food : Diverse. Insects, worms, small mammals, frogs, snakes, lizards. Also fruit, seeds and other plant material.
Wingspan : Upto 100cm.
