Love is in the air!

April 2, 2018

Love is certainly in the air for our White Stork group who fly in our displays at our Knowsley Safari Park site "Flight of the talons". Over the past weeks storks have been splitting into pairs and picking sites around their aviary to start building a nest! In the wild White Storks will build big nests on the top of chimneys, houses, and in trees - sometimes even aided by humans as a White Stork pair building a nest on your house is seen as a good omen.

We have currently recorded 4 pair who have each made an individual nest site and started using sticks, leaves, and grass collected by staff to start building their nests. If the storks do produce eggs and incubate successfully, chicks hatch out around 33 - 35 days after.

Check out this video of their work so far, and watch this space for further updates!
